OUR STORY
In the early 2000s, Euan, the founder of Mother Mash, worked as a salesman — selling bricks to builders' merchants in East London. Lunchtime often meant an invitation to the area’s traditional pie and mash shops. These no-frills eateries, with their simple menus, gleaming white-tiled walls, and marble tabletops, were as comforting as the food itself.
It was in one of these humble establishments that inspiration struck: why not bring this quintessential East End experience to the bright lights of the West End?

LOCAtioN, LOCAtioN, LOCATION
LOCAtioN, LOCAtioN, LOCATION
With a vision in his heart and a business plan in hand, Euan set out to make his dream a reality, but everything hinged on finding the perfect spot for his first shop. After a few close calls and dashed hopes, he finally stumbled upon the perfect location: a disused charity shop in the bustling heart of Soho.

In 2006 the first Mother Mash restaurant flung open its doors, right in the heart of London’s West End.
The response? Let’s just say the Soho's love affair with mash began right there.

AWARD WINNING
AWARD WINNING
Within its first year, Mother Mash nabbed the prestigious Time Out award for Best Cheap Eats. It was the first of many accolades, but as they say, your first is always the sweetest.
Euan quits his sales job and devotes himself to potatoes full-time. After all, who wouldn’t want to swap bricks for buttery mash?

BIGGER ISN'T ALWAYS BETTER
BIGGER ISN'T ALWAYS BETTER
Buoyed by Soho’s success, Mother Mash ventured into the City of London with a larger restaurant. Unfortunately, the location didn’t click, and after two challenging years, the doors closed.
It was a tough pill to swallow but a lesson that proved invaluable.
